A Family Day Reflection from Benita Pashko
Family doesn’t always look the same.
For some, it’s a busy home filled with children’s laughter and packed school schedules.
For others, it’s Sunday dinners with siblings or long phone calls with lifelong friends.
And sometimes, family has four legs… and waits patiently by the door when you get home.
Family Day is a reminder that home is not just about square footage, finishes, or market value. It’s about comfort. It’s about loyalty. It’s about the quiet moments that make a house feel like yours.
As a REALTOR® in Edmonton and Sherwood Park, I have the privilege of walking alongside people during some of life’s biggest transitions. Growing families. Downsizing couples. Individuals starting fresh. Retirees looking for simplicity. And yes, many proud pet parents who consider their animals every bit as much family as anyone else.
What I’ve learned over the years is this:
Home is deeply personal.
It holds memories. It protects what matters. It becomes the backdrop for the life you’re building — whatever that looks like for you.
Family Day is not about a single definition.
It’s about appreciation.
Appreciation for the people who support you.
Appreciation for the relationships that ground you.
Appreciation for the place you return to at the end of each day.
For me, that includes the quiet comfort of home, the companionship of loyal pets, and the incredible community I’m grateful to serve.
Edmonton is full of unique families.
Different stories. Different journeys. Different versions of “home.”
And that’s something worth celebrating.
Wishing you a beautiful Family Day filled with connection, warmth, and whatever family means to you.
With gratitude,
Benita Pashko
